Paul has been with the Phoenix Police Department since 1978. He retired with over 31 years with the department. Upon retirement he transitioned into a Reserve Officer position and currently volunteers his time with Phoenix Police as a fully sworn police officer, primarily teaching G.R.E.A.T. to Phoenix area children and families. Paul began teaching children when he became a D.A.R.E. Instructor in 1988. In 1991 he assisted in the development of the G.R.E.A.T. Program. In 1993 Paul began training officers from across the United States (as well as many other countries) to teach the program. During his time with G.R.E.A.T., Paul has filled all training roles, wrote the original program policies, chaired the Curriculum Review Committee, developed training curriculum and assisted in the national management of the program. Since his retirement in May, 2010 he continues as a G.R.E.A.T. Instructor and National Training Team member and has participated in numerous program development committees.
Paul has been married to his best friend Lisa for over 10 years. They have two sons; Logan (8) and Chase (4). Paul also has an adult daughter, Amy, who is a Registered Nurse and a granddaughter, Hannah who is 13.
